Dr. Alves Antunes is a board-certified Family Medicine physician (ABFM). She completed her residency at LSU Health Shreveport, serving as Chief Resident in 2022, and received her medical degree from UFSCar, Brazil (2013), with additional training in Internal Medicine at Santa Casa de São Paulo (2016). She has been a reviewer for the Annals of Family Medicine since 2024 and has spoken at national and international events, including the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting in 2018. In 2024, she served as a Minority Delegate for the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) and as Medical Director of MeSCO at LSU Health Shreveport.
She holds an MBA in General Business from LSU and maintains medical licensure in multiple U.S. states. She is also licensed to practice medicine in Brazil, where she founded Marietta MD, a multilingual telemedicine platform designed to serve patients who do not speak Portuguese.
Passionate about teaching, mentoring, and community health, Dr. Antunes is dedicated to advancing equitable, patient-centered care. Outside of medicine, she enjoys volunteering, music, and spending time with her family.
